Most YThready laces are sold by the meter. A beautiful design can still fail if the length runs short at the last corner. This guide shows how to measure like a professional and order with calm confidence.
Measure the placement path — not only garment length
A blouse neckline is a curve, not a straight line. A flared hem has more circumference than the waist. Always measure the exact path where lace will sit.
Mark joins before you cut
Decide where seams will fall. Avoid placing a join at the center front of a neckline unless the motif is designed to meet symmetrically.
Recommended buffers
- Straight hem: add ~10%
- Curved neckline/sleeve: add ~15%
- Motif matching + corners: add ~20%
Sample before full commitment
If the garment is high-stakes (bridal, reception, client delivery), stitch a 20–30 cm sample on scrap fabric. Check needle size, tension, and whether the lace wants stabilizer.
